Do you have dreams about making a positive impact on the world? Many people say this – but don’t act on their goal to make a difference. Read on for 4 things to do to help to make our world a better place.
There are plenty of people out there who are good at pointing out the many problems in the world.
But there aren’t enough people rolling up their sleeves and actively doing something about these problems.
And, of course, taking action to make a positive difference is what the world needs.
How To Make A Positive Impact on The World
Here’s one of the most profound realizations that you can have in life:
You have the power to make a positive impact in your community and the lives of others around the globe.
Once you fully accept your power, you’ll be eager to do more with your time and energy. In this blog, we’ll take a look at a few popular ways to have a positive impact on the world.
1. Make A Positive Impact By Improving Yourself
How easy it is, to spot the flaws in other people. But what about your own flaws?
Nobody’s perfect, and that includes, of course, you.
(And me too!)
Before you begin having a broader impact on society, first you must improve yourself.
Actually, there are some people who say it’s the only way to make a difference!
Where to begin? Take some quiet time for self-reflection. Come up with an honest assessment of yourself. While you might be getting most things right, there will be areas where you can improve things.
Here are some favorite personal development suggestions:
- Improve your productivity – so you accomplish more in a day.
- Work on embracing strong character
- Learn to think like an optimist
- Develop the super power of calm
- Train your brain to crave healthier foods
- Boost your self worth and create stronger boundaries
- Get enough sleep
- Heal the emotional pain from your past
2. Make A Positive Impact By Being A Community Leader
People can talk about the state of the world, and they can talk about the state of their community. They might think it’s not as good as it once was, or whatever else.
It doesn’t matter what the complaint is. The truth is that when people criticize their communities, they’re really criticizing themselves.
Healthy, thriving communities don’t just happen, They’re built. It’s up to the people that live in them to make them better.
So instead of complaining about an issue in your community, look at moving things in the right direction.
You might just find you’re able to have a profoundly positive impact on the community, just by initiating a few positive policies.

3. Make A Positive Impact Through Your Work
When it comes to choosing a career, we usually focus on things such as how much money we can earn and what we believe we have a natural talent for.
But if you want to make a difference in the world, then it’s worthwhile thinking about the positive impact your job can have.
I myself used to be a Creative Director in advertising. But I didn’t feel fulfilled. I wanted to use my creativity to help the world in some way. Instead of inspiring someone to try a new toothpaste, I wanted to inspire people to think in new ways. So I quit my advertising job, and became a writer and designer of personal development books and life changing video courses.
You don’t need to quit your job to make a difference. You can volunteer on the side.
Plus, if you’re interested, there are plenty of jobs that push the world in the right direction.
Here’s an article with 4 meaningful jobs – for those who like to help people!
Plus here are 2 jobs which give back to the world…
- You can study for a Master’s in social work at the University of Nevada-Reno, and work with the people that need the most help.
- Or you can study to become a nurse or doctor and help people that way.
You’ll find that these jobs are generally well-paying and come with a high level of job satisfaction, too.
4. Make A Positive Impact By Teaching Your Kids Well
Finally, you can make an impact by teaching the right values to your children. Yes, you’re only one person – in theory. But you can make a difference in our world by inspiring your kids to be the best people they can be.
Educate your children and show them how to be decent, conscientious citizens. You never know what it might just lead to. Your kids could just become the leaders of tomorrow.
In Summary: The Importance of Making A Difference In Our World
I believe the word “we” is one of the most beautiful words in the world.
“We” is a small word with big power.
Meaning? We all need to accept that we all are living together on the same planet – so we must be aware of the cause and affects of our words and actions on each other.
- We can put out good into the world.
- Or we can put out bad into the world.
- And we can put out nothing whatsoever.
But when we choose to put out good into the world…wow! We can improve so many lives – and that’s a pretty darn awesome thing to do!
