If you’re feeling resistant to working out and eating healthy, here are 4 motivational tips to keep healthy – so you enjoy better health.
If you don’t take time to take care of your health now, you’re gonna have to take time for feeling sick and tired later. It really is a two-way street. You can’t merely expect your health to be thriving without you mindfully nurturing it.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that you won’t make mistakes regarding your health. We all do. But you need to prioritize your health, so you stay motivated to keep healthy.
4 Motivational Tips to Keep Healthy So You Enjoy Better Health
1. Make Small Changes
If you feel overwhelmed by how much you need to change in order to live more healthfully, think small.
Usually, becoming healthier is just a matter of making a series of small changes.
Try these motivational tips to keep healthy:
- If you’re not exercising enough, commit to a tiny 10 – 15 minutes of exercise a day. Even doing 30 sit ups in the morning is a good start. Small changes over time add up to big changes over time.
- Do 2 minutes of meditation daily. I share some simple and fun meditations here.
- Delete one unhealthy food at a time – not everything all at once. For example, every 1 -2 weeks you can eliminate something new like: soda, french fries, chips, ice cream, etc…
- Drink a full 8 ounce glass of water in the morning to rehydrate and re-energize your body – and fill you up. Here’s why.
- Knowledge is power. Regularly read about what’s good vs bad for you – so you stay aware and motivated. Start with my book Life is Long – which offers a range of cutting edge research on how to be healthier.
2. Make It A Game
If you make taking care of your health fun, you might be more likely to do it.
Try these motivational tips to keep healthy:
- Get a fun health buddy. Go biking together. Do yoga together. Text each other your regular progress reports and cheer each other onward and upward.
- Take an online class like my Stop Emotional Eating video course – which makes improving your health fun – and offers loving support.
- Pick something fun to do – which doesn’t feel like punishment or effort. For example, I got a rebounder (mini trampoline) for my home. Take a peek at how much fun it is here!
- Make it a game to see how many different colors of food you can eat in a day. Studies say that the more colors of foods you sneak into your diet, the healthier you’ll be. For example, in one day I wound up enjoying: Blueberries. Red peppers. Oranges. Avocados. Carrots. Strawberries. Salmon. Spinach. Mushrooms.
- Print out some of my funny diet motivation quote posters and put them on your refrigerator. Or use my health motivational quote posters as mobile wallpapers.
3. Stay Up To Date On Your Health
In order to ensure that you are doing the right thing by your body, you will want to be fully aware of your health.
Try these motivational tips to keep healthy:
- Schedule regular doctor and dentist check ups. Preventative care is key.
- Keep a food journal – so you’re honestly aware of what you’re eating. Here’s how and why to keep a food journal.
- Every month do full body scan. It’s simple to do. Just close your eyes for 2 – 3 minutes and concentrate on how you feel from head to toe. Be honest with yourself about any discomfort. If you sense an issue – schedule a doctor’s appointment.
- If you’re a woman, schedule regular breast exams.
4. Think About The Future
If you are struggling to feel inspired as to why you should bother taking your health seriously, it might be enough to merely consider the alternative for a while.
What would be the longterm results of not taking your health seriously at all?
Really think about this long and hard. If someone doesn’t look after themselves they might expect a whole host of health problems: diabetes, heart disease, stroke, cancer, etc…
