Have you ever felt like your day is filled with a series of “metaphorical pop-up ads”- each “pop-up” featuring a different challenging event – or challenging thought about one.

As a result, you’re always looking for the “metaphorical close button” – to manage these disturbances?

If you’re nodding along and thinking, “Tell me about it,” then read on.

I’m here to help you to get your life together.

And not by just organizing your sock drawer.

I’m here to help you to feel like you are more in charge of your world.

As a bestselling author on anxiety and a leading Mindset Mastery Coach I’ve guided millions to reclaim their lives—helping them to set clearer goals, get their finances on track, and learn to more confidently say “no.”

And so I’m excited to share my top 15 strategies that have dramatically transformed my private coaching clients’ lives. These are also some of the same strategies I weave into my bestselling online course, The Anxiety Cure.

So let’s dive into this “Getting Your Life Together Checklist,” step by purposeful step.

Once you start to apply these tips, you’ll begin to enjoy a life that feels as good on the inside, as it looks on the outside.

15 Steps to Getting Your Life Together Checklist:

Step 1: Hit the Pause Button

Before you do anything drastic like sell all your possessions or join a silent yoga retreat for a year, take a moment.

Breathe. It’s time to hit pause and reassess.

Are you running in the right direction or just running?

Sometimes we’re so busy chasing life that we forget to actually live it.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Schedule a weekly “me-time” session to do nothing but reflect. Just you, your thoughts, and maybe a cup of peppermint tea…. because… why not?

Step 2: Declutter Like You Mean It

Declutteringworry is a form of betting against yourself isn’t just about throwing out old takeout menus.

It’s about saying goodbye to anything that doesn’t add value to your life.

This means toxic relationships, lingering worries, old grudges, and yes, that sweater from 2005 that you swear you’ll wear again.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Start small. One drawer, one conversation, one apology at a time.

Step 3: Set Your GPS

You wouldn’t drive to a new place without setting your GPS, right? The same goes for life.

Where do you want to go? What’s your destination?

Set goals that make your heart do a happy dance.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Write down your goals—big and small. Make them S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). Then take action, even if it’s micro-steps.

Step 4: Budget Like a Boss

Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy peace of mind.

Get on top of your finances like a boss.

Create a budget, stick to it. And watch your savings grow like a glorious money tree.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Use budgeting apps to track your spending habits. Knowledge is power—and in this case, money.

Step 5: Get Physical

No, you don’t have to become a gym rat or the next Instagram fitness model. But get moving.

Exercise is the most underutilized antidepressant and a proven life-together-getter.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Find an activity you actually enjoy. Dancing, hiking, underwater basket weaving—whatever floats your boat.

Step 6: Mind Your Mind

when things change inside of you they change outside of you tooYour brain is like a sponge, and it’s time to control what it soaks up.

Inundating yourself with negative news or toxic TV before bedtime?

Swap it for a podcast on positivity or a meditation session.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Curate your media intake as carefully as you would your diet. Feed your mind with nutritious content. Get calming meditations and other grounding tools in my bestselling book Instant Calm.

Step 7: Social Butterflies, Assemble!

Humans are social creatures. Even the introverts among us need connection.

Yes, Zoom calls can count as a back up plan.

Cultivate your relationships like the precious garden they are.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Reach out to a friend or family member weekly. No agenda, just connection.

Step 8: The Gratitude Attitude

They say: It’s not happy people who are thankful. It’s thankful people who are happy. Well, “They” is right!

Gratitude isn’t just woo-woo. It’s scientifically woo-hoo for improving your life.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Keep a gratitude journal. Daily entries can shift your mental state from “meh” to “yeah!”

Step 9: Learn Like You Live Forever

Learning keeps your brain sharp and your life interesting.

Always wanted to learn Spanish? Go for it.

Interested in quantum physics? Why not?

YouTube and online courses are your friends. Check out some of my wildly popular online courses here.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Dedicate at least 30 minutes a day to learning something new.

Step 10: Food for Thought (and Health)

What you put in your body has a massive effect on your mood, energy levels, and overall health.

Eat like you love yourself: plenty of greens, fruits, and water.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Meal prep on weekends, so you’re not tempted to order pizza every night. Get tips to stop emotional eating – here.

Step 11: Get Your Vitamin Zzzz’s

get your life together sleepSleep isn’t for the weak. It’s for the wise.

Prioritize rest. Your body repairs itself while you sleep. So give it the time to do its thing.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep. Create a bedtime ritual that signals your body it’s time to wind down. Try Magnesium to help you sleep better.

Step 12: The Art of Saying No

No is a complete sentence. Learn the art of saying no without explaining yourself.

Your time and energy are precious. Treat them as such.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Practice polite but firm ways to decline invitations or requests that don’t align with your goals or needs.

Step 13: Celebrate the Wins

Got out of bed before noon? Celebrate it.

Drank water instead of cola? Cheer for yourself.

Celebrating small wins builds momentum for the big ones.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Create a victory log and add to it every time you achieve something, no matter how small.

Step 14: Practice Forgiveness

time to forgive yourself quoteThere’s a famous saying: “Holding onto resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”

Forgiveness isn’t about them. It’s for you. Forgive and lift the weight off your shoulders.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Write a forgiveness letter. You don’t have to send it. Just releasing those emotions is a huge step. Or if you’re struggling to forgive after a tough break up, explore my Broken Heart Recovery Course – here.

Step 15: Get Courageously Gutsy

Finally, get gutsy with your life. Take calculated risks. Apply for that job. Ask that person out.

Life’s too short for what-ifs.

Life-Getting-Together Tactic: Make a “fear-facing” plan and tackle one fear at a time.

Recap: Steps For Getting Your Life Together Checklist

So there you have it, a nifty little checklist for when your life feels like it’s been tossed into a blender and set to puree.
