As you might know, I started my career working in New York’s top ad and marketing agencies – rising up quickly to Senior VP.

But then I quit in my late twenties (to my parent’s horror) to pursue becoming a (hoped for) bestselling author. Plus I wanted to help people – in a more personal way – as a branding and marketing consultant. Thankfully, my career plan/dream worked out!

Here are some key examples that should be a part of your own marketing campaign. 

1. SMS

First, you should think about using SMS marketing. The clear benefit of using SMS is the open rate. The open rate on texts is 98% which is more than four times higher than email. People are less wary of spam and direct promotion through SMS. Therefore, it’s likely that your message will get through. You just need to use an SMS API to ensure that you can effectively send out texts to your audience. That way, you can make sure that you are running an efficient marketing strategy. 

2. Email

You might also want to explore email solutions. The open rate for emails is quite low. Some reports suggest that the open rate might be as low as 21% which is why a lot of brands dismiss the possibility completely. However, email marketing can be effective. You just need to make sure that you understand how to ensure it stands out. One of the ways that you can do this is by using big data. With the right level of data, you can find out the products and services that a customer is interested in and then create an email around this. 

3. Blogging 

Next, you should consider blogging in your business. Blogging can be highly powerful as a marketing tool if you use it the right way. The benefit of blogging to an audience is that it doesn’t feel like direct marketing. Instead, it’s a great way to deliver real value to your audience with the side benefit of promoting a product or service. The best way to approach this is to answer questions you know your audience has. You can use an analytics tool to research the questions that your audience is most interested in. Remember, by answering questions, you are eliminating roadblocks between your customer and a potential sale. 

4. Video 

Finally, you should think about looking at forms of video marketing. Research shows that within ten years, the majority of the content published online will be video. That’s why it’s essential that you familiarize yourself with this form of marketing as much as possible. You need to understand how to use video the right way. Ultimately, video can be effective for creating a more immersive form of marketing where an audience feels like they are connected to your brand.
