career advancement

If you’re struggling with feeling fulfilled or properly paid in your job, here are 5 tips to advance your career.

The world economy is at risk of recession.

Recently, thousands of businesses have closed down, and companies are laying off employees at an alarming rate.

Unfortunately, this has led many employees to get stuck with a huge workload.

Juggling between hectic schedules and advancing your career is not easy. Fortunately, you can navigate this tough world with simple steps.

As you might know, I’m a bestselling author and happiness researcher. I wrote a book called Happy Habits.

In my research, I learned specific habits that can boost your career success, fulfillment and income.

I will cover a few of these success habits in this article.

(Pssst… I explain this more in my book: Happy Habits.)

5 Tips to Advance Your Career

1. Pursue Your Career Mission with Vigor

career advancementYou might be in your dream job or waiting to land something you feel suits your passion.

Whichever the situation, ensure you accomplish your tasks and assignments. Your job description represents your passion and mission.

The combination of technical know-how and managing clients puts you on the right path to your career.

Learn as much as you can from those who have gone ahead of you. Familiarize yourself with the current trends and technological advancement in your field.

The happiest experts understand their work and put effort to do a good job.

2. Learn to Earn More

uniquely youIf you want to be an effective employee, equip yourself with new skills, goals, and responsibilities. Once you learn how to navigate around your job, challenge yourself by acquiring more skills.

Don’t be comfortable in that plateau phase. Use resources in your community or online to pursue new knowledge.

For instance…

If you’re in the business field, you can pursue a degree in counseling from https://chc.edu.au/courses/bachelor-of-counselling/

This puts you in a strategic position where you can offer counselling services to colleagues on how to navigate workplace stress. This will earn you extra money where you can do your new job as a side hustle.

3. Be Result-Oriented

tips career successMost employees focus on time rather than results.

Being an ideal employee dictates you be result-driven and proactive.

Find what it takes to achieve set goals.

When you are result-oriented, you’ll likely escape the retrenchment axe in your company.

Attention to detail is important, but that should not override the ability to stick to the bigger picture.

Set time-specific goals and stick to them. Look for solutions and always have a backup plan.

Being result-oriented shows that you’re determined and you have the attributes and principles of a great leader.

4. Acquire Conflict Management Skills

Conflict management brings workers together to facilitate goal achievement.

It also enhances commitment, generates new insights, and fosters good working relationships.

Check out the local resources to find suitable workshops to attend.

With conflict management skills, you can learn how to handle the toughest colleagues and clients with poise.

You’ll become an asset that the company will never let go of.

5. Your Health is an Asset

tips career advancement mental health eat wellOften, people think career advancement is all about going back to school, working tirelessly and getting a promotion.

Sadly, the health aspect is an ignored field when it comes to career advancement.

Regular workouts, yoga, or meditation play a crucial role in both your mental and physical health.

Finding time to do the things you love outside of work is also important for your mental health. Whether it’s taking yourself off for a bubble bath or listening to mushrooms & psychedelics podcasts make time at least once a day to do something you love.

A good night sleep and attention to nutrition are vital elements to ensure you stay put in your career.

Working out enhances your cognitive skills, boosts your concentration, relieves stress, and boosts your self-esteem.

The Bottom Line on How To Advance Your Career

With these tips, advancing your career becomes an effortless process. But above all, always show up. Value your time, yourself, and your job. Ensure you become the best team player a company can ever get.
