Wellness isn’t necessarily sunrise yoga or elegantly posed smoothie bowls. It’s just sometimes feeling not rubbish. And if you’re a woman who’d rather scroll than sweat, who happens to own a yoga mat that’s only there so that furniture marks don’t ruin the carpet—you are welcome.
We’re all with you.
This guide isn’t full of guilt or green juice. It’s the lazy gir’s guide to wellness – it’s about feeling better without upturning your life.
You don’t have to change who you are to feel better. Seriously, all that expectation to “transform” is enough to make anybody just stay home with snacks and Netflix rather than revolutionize your entire routine. Make a few adjustments. Approach wellness like seasoning food. A dash there, a pinch here. It all adds up without requiring an entirely new recipe.
You don’t require a Peloton or a 5K training program. Walking around your own home in place of brushing your teeth is movement. So is tapping your feet, waiting for your toast to pop. Dancing around your kitchen to one song, if you happen to feel up to it, is movement, too. Movement isn’t about sweat and reps—it’s about not sitting so long that your own legs forget their existence.
Don’t need to subsist on kale. But perhaps don’t use crisps for every meal either. Chopping veggies too daunting today? Use the pre-chopped product. Put some color on the plate without considering superfood labels. Eggs scrambled, cherry tomatoes, and some feta? Wellness. Nut butter on toast with banana slices? Wellness. Food that grounds your body, not just rewards your brain.
You’ve heard it before because it’s true: being dehydrated just makes everything worse. Headache. Poor skin. Mood swings. It’s not glamorous, but sipping enough water is one of the laziest things you can do to feel immediately human. Hate drinking water? Add some slices of cucumber or some mint, and imagine you are at a spa. Even if you’re in your PJs with dry shampoo, you’re getting all the work done.
Eight hours of unbroken sleep may be a luxury trip you can no longer afford. However, there are small changes that can make a significant difference. Charge your phone in the next room. Invest in an eye mask. Dim the lights after 9 pm. Even if you don’t fall asleep immediately, these subtle reminders let your brain know that it’s time to unwind.
Ditch the 12-step rituals. None of us are short of time, money, or patience. Cleanse your face. Moisturise. Apply sunscreen. And that’s it. Suppose you do fancy a little indulgence (and who doesn’t); treat yourself to a hydrafacial every now and then. It’s minimal effort, by which I mean barely any, but it does wonders for your complexion. It’s no filters, no fuss, just some professional-grade shine that’ll last longer than your last failed mask session.
There is this myth that if you aren’t sweating, then you’re slacking. It’s bull. Resting is an act of respect for yourself, not indulgence. Resting does not mean you care less; it means that you’re figuring out what counts so that you can make your energy count.
Your surroundings subtly influence your mood without you often realizing it. When your space is tidy, it may seem like your mind is, too. But this isn’t about creating a home that’s perfectly styled like one from a Pinterest board. It’s about creating small havens of peace. Clear one surface. Light your go-to candle. Place a soft throw so you can easily snag it. Don’t feel like you have to clean every inch—just make one place feel peaceful and yours. When your environment feels gentle, it’s easier to breathe deeper, think clearer, and sleep better.
Sometimes you need to tweak your way to a better life. Add one green thing to your plate. Place your phone in a different room. Light a candle before bedtime. Say no to activities that drain you. Smile at yourself in the mirror, even if you don’t feel like smiling. It all adds up. You don’t have to transform your life in an instant to feel different. Small habits, made uncomplicated, can change everything quietly. It’s not about being your best version. It’s being nicer to yourself as you are. Lazy girls should feel good, too—and sometimes, our way is better for everyone in the long run.
