If you want to feel and look your best, you need to know the many health benefits of water and the importance of hydration. Here’s everything you need to know about drinking water to be your healthiest self.

Water is one of the most valuable resources that we have on this planet. It sustains all forms of life. As humans, we especially need water in order to survive.

Our bodies are said to be made up of around seventy-five per cent water. We need to keep this water in our system in order to feel and look our best.

Water is vital for our overall health as well as for reducing our stress levels. In fact, every element of our body benefits in some way from drinking water – from the smallest cells – right up to the heart, brain, and kidneys.

The importance of hydration should never be taken for granted.

If you become severely dehydrated, it can take as little as three days for your organs to start to shut down.

This may well be a stark fact. But if you can keep on top of your water intake, then this will never be a problem.

So, please pour yourself a glass of water right now. Sit down. And read all about the many health benefits which water brings to both your physical and mental health.

The Many Health Benefits of Water

Health Benefits of Water On Your Skin

Looking good is important to us all. With this in mind, you want to make sure you have healthy-looking skin – free from blemishes and blotches.

If your skin becomes dry, it can become irritable and begin to appear unhealthy.  Hence this is one of the many reasons why you need to drink water – so as to keep your skin well hydrated.

Hyaluronic acid has numerous functions in the body. It is something that is naturally occurring within us. This amazing chemical can hold up to one thousand times its own weight in water. This means that it is exceptional in maintaining hydration within our skin and body.

However, as we get older, the production of hyaluronic acid will begin to slow down. So you will need to find compensate by looking for skincare products which have been enriched with hyaluronic acid serum . Thankfully there are many gels and serums on the market – each tailored to your specific skin care needs.

Here is a collection some of my favorite skin creams I personally use to keep my skin at its best.

Health Benefits of Water On Your Heart

Drinking plenty of water will help your cardiovascular system. The heart pumps oxygenated blood around the body. The presence of water will aid this process and ensure that you have enough oxygen going into your blood to keep you active and healthy.

Health Benefits of Water On Your Brain

Keeping your brain healthy is important. You need to think all of the time. So you will need a clear head. Drinking water will help you to sharpen your thinking.

Without water, a dehydrated brain will often be left feeling fuzzy. Poor levels of fluids can also cause you to get headaches.

Water is also great in the fight against stress too. When you are struggling with feelings of anxiety, drinking water can give you the shot of oxygen that you need to find a new sense of calmness.

Health Benefits of Water On Your Kidneys

Your body uses water to flush through any unwanted toxins that might well otherwise be a problem for you. If you have an infection or a cold, drinking water will push this out of your body too over time.

It is important to drink plenty of water to keep your kidneys clear of infection. As this part of your body processes all of the waste, dehydration can bring about urinary tract infections.

If you neglect your hydration levels for a long time, you may severely damage the function of your kidney, leaving you open to lots of other infections.

Drink Water To Keep Cool

Water is a great way of cooling yourself down. If you are hot, you will often reach for a cold drink to help to bring down your temperature.

In fact, drinking water will always help you to better bear hot climates that would normally be uncomfortable.

Here’s an interesting article about the benefits of cold water vs warm water.

How Much Water Should You Drink?

You should try to drink around 2 liters of water each day. This can be done over the course of the entire day. One of the best ways of doing this is by drinking little and often.

You should start your day drinking a tall glass of water on an empty stomach. Read why here!

Use a reusable bottle. Keep it filled up and with you all day. You will not only help to reduce the amount of plastic waste, but you will also be able to save yourself some money.

If you live in an area where the piped water to your house does not taste the best straight from the tap, then you may want to invest in a water filter system. This will help you to get great-tasting water whenever you need it.

Avoid drinking too many caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee, or cola as these will act as a diuretic. Although they may contain water in them, the caffeine will counteract this and make you more dehydrated. If you choose to drink these, have a glass of water alongside them to remain hydrated and feeling fresh.

Managing Water as An Essential Resource

Water may appear to be an ever-present and abundant resource. After all, it does account for over 60 per cent of the planet.

Most water, however, is not suitable for drinking. Saltwater needs desalinating before it can be consumed, and much of the world’s fresh water supply is currently in danger of pollution and the effects of climate change.

It is estimated that by 2025, a quarter of the population of the planet will not have access to fresh drinking water. It is therefore in all of our best interests to appreciate this valuable liquid while we have it.

So do your best to conserve water by turning off faucets as soon as you can – so you do your part to make sure people on our planet always have enough water to drink.
