As it turns out, coffee helps me to live!
Yep – I have some awesome news for coffee lovers!
A new study reports that drinking coffee is associated with a lower risk of early death.
Best of all – according to this study – this is relevant no matter how many cups of coffee you drink a day.
I gotta say… I felt like I didn’t drink enough coffee when I read that – because it sounds so unbelievable – that it doesn’t matter how many cups you drink!
But it’s true – according to a paper published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
In the words of Dr. Erikka Loftfield, the study’s lead investigator and a research fellow at the National Cancer Institute:
“We observed an inverse association for coffee drinking with mortality, including among participants who reported drinking at least one cup per day, up to eight or more cups per day, as well as those drinking filtered, instant and decaffeinated coffee.”
OMG- you’ve been given permission to drink 8 cups of coffee a day!
I’ve read other research on coffee which reports coffee helps longevity – but also warns not to drink too much coffee.
I find it interesting when studies report different results – so wanted to share.
If you’ve been seeking rationalizations for chugging down 8 cups of coffee a day – well, this study is for you!
Three cups if I’m feeling tired and too wimpy to move.
More coffee than that gives me the jitters -and interferes with my sleep at the end of the day.
