Stop Negative Thoughts With This Simple Refocusing Tool
Want to stop negative thoughts from following you around all day?

Here’s a simple tool to refocus your mind and replace negative thinking with thoughts that help you to feel more calm and positive.

I love this powerful Buddha quote about enemies.

“Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.”-Buddha

Right now, I want you to take a moment to become aware of how you have been speaking to yourself.

I want you to ask yourself:

Would you allow SOMEBODY ELSE to say some of the mean/negative things you might be saying to yourself?

If your answer is NO WAY – I want you to stop your negative thoughts with this simple refocusing tool which I call…

“A STOP and SWAP”

  • Basically, I don’t want you to simply try to STOP the negative thought.
  • I also want you to make sure you SWAP the negative thought with a POSITIVE thought.

Why must you do a STOP and SWAP and not merely a STOP?

Because it’s far easier to stop a thought, when you fill your mind with a replacement thought.

For example…

Let’s say you wanted to stop a puppy from chewing on your slipper.

It helps if you give the puppy something else to chew on – maybe a bone.

After all, the puppy has this urge to chew on something.

If you don’t give the puppy something NEW to chew on, it will keep chewing the slipper.

Similarly your mind has the urge to chew on something.

If you simply only try to STOP the negative thought, and don’t give your mind something NEW to chew on instead, your mind will keep going back to chewing on the negative thought.

Some ideas for STOP and SWAP thoughts:

  • Choose a positive reminder of something you know you’ve done wonderfully in your life.
  • Choose to think about some talent/strength/quality/skill you know you have.
  • Choose a thought of gratitude for some wonderful person/event/experience in your life.

Think happier. Think calmer.
