Outdoor lighting and comfortable furniture are essential features. Combining these to create an exciting outdoor party experience can be overwhelming. However, it does not have to be.
Planning a themed outdoor party can be exciting yet overwhelming. You want to ensure that all your guests eat and enjoy themselves the whole time. It would help if you started with a guest list and a budget. Plan what works best for your guests based on their characteristics.

Tips for planning a themed outdoor party:
Create a Budget
Your budget should include food, drinks, and the cooking equipment for the entire party. Know how many guests you plan to invite to estimate the food budget. Once you know the number, you can use online BBQ party calculators to determine how much food to buy.
Regarding cooking, consider the most readily available means according to your budget. While you can cook over an open fire, gas grills make it easier. Guests can help prepare the BBQ as you focus on other aspects of the party.
Let Your Guests Know What to Expect
When sending out invitations to your party, specify what will happen and at what time, including when food will be served. The grill master will be on top between 5 and 6 p.m., so don’t miss out. This simple yet straightforward message will help you stay within your budget because you won’t have to refire the grill.
Moreover, give your guests a theme, including the dress code. Should they wear tank tops, pyjamas, or shorts? Let the theme match your guests’ vibe: middle-aged, kids, or teenagers. For example, if it is a teen pool party, you can throw a line like, “Don’t forget your swimsuits.” The most crucial thing is to communicate the essentials of the party, including the theme colour.
Consider DIY Cooking
Consider DIY cooking options instead of buying takeaway food or hiring outside catering experts unless you have that option in your budget. Various options include BBQ, burger and taco bars, and a salad table with dressing and topping options. You can also include an ice cream sundae or a drinks corner. With these DIY options, guests can choose their bites and save you stress of serving everyone.
If you have some guests with food restrictions, creating labels listing ingredients in foods that may be a problem would help. You can also walk your guests through the food stations, explaining what each food contains so they know what to avoid.
Create an Upgrade for Non-Alcoholic Drinks and Mocktails
If you are hosting a no-alcohol party or have minors among your guests, you can opt for infused drinks since they are easy to prepare. You do not need to struggle squeezing lemons for iced tea or homemade lemonade.
Place fresh citrus slices, watermelon chunks, herbs, or berries in lemonade or iced tea bottles. You can even mix them in water to create an infused drink for your guests.
Prepare Enough Seats
If you need more than your regular chair for your guests, assess indoor ones. Pressing dining chairs, drum stools, and any poufs in your house into service will be the best solution in such a situation. Guests can prop up picnic blankets or quilts on the ground if they have a casual theme.
However, if these options do not work, renting can be another affordable option. You can hire chairs, tables, and covers to complete your themed party. Many vendors drop by and pick up the furniture, easing your burden. If you still need more, ask nearby guests to bring foldable chairs if they have them.
Install Outdoor Lights to Match the Theme
Plan your outdoor lighting if your party lasts until late in the evening. You can hang lanterns or string lights. Ensure adequate lighting in every corridor and space your guests will likely go to avoid accidents.
Furthermore, party lights are an excellent way to express your creativity while keeping with the day’s theme. Install colourful string lights on the fences surrounding the patio or party ground for lighting and decoration.
Plan Some Fun Activities
Include some diversions for the kids on the party list to allow the adults to relax, drink, and catch up. Provide regular toys like sprinklers, bubble blowers, beach balls and Slip ‘n Slide and set aside a kids’ corner. Cheap disposable cameras can also be an ideal investment since children can enjoy being the party’s official photographers.
Recap: Themed Outdoor Party
There are countless ideas for adult fun at an outdoor party. While some adults will enjoy a few rounds at the Slip ‘n Slide, having multiple options would be more fun. Consider setting up a film corner using an outdoor projector or creating a fun zone with lawn games.
