What You Need To Kit Out Your Office

how To Kit Out Your OfficeI’m sharing about what you need to kit out your office because I’m a bestselling author and entrepreneur – with about 2 million books and courses sold globally.

If you are in the process of setting up your own business then you could have already found the perfect location for your office. Now you need to work out the budget to kit this out and find everything you need before opening.

There will be many lists online – but you must know what you need to buy at the end of the day.

How To Kit Out Your Office

Remember: Try not to pack everything in. And make sure your office has enough room for everyone and everything.

Furniture

When it comes to kitting out your office, there is one major thing you will need. Desks and chairs so you and your employees have somewhere to sit and work. Without the right furniture in place, your staff may struggle with levels of productivity. You also need to acknowledge that they are going to be sitting for long periods of time. It would be worthwhile investing in ergonomic desks, chairs, and accessories so they are well supported throughout.

Technology

Next you need to think about the type of technology you need in your office. This could include the internet provider you use, laptops, PCs, and telephones. If you don’t want to buy all of these brand new, then that’s okay. One thing you do need to be aware of is buying old tech can actually end up costing your business more money in the long run. This is due to the older systems taking longer to load and employees needing to wait around while pages open for them. If you can fit newer technology into your budget then it is always worth getting this, you will get some time before you need to replace it as well.

Employees

Your office might be a bit empty without employees in it. If you haven’t hired anyone yet then you may be in the process of doing so. You need to know the type of people and job titles you need within your company, otherwise you could be throwing money away. Send out a job advertisement that will gain interest from jobseekers. You may want to place this on niche sites otherwise you might have a fair few CVs to trawl through. Make sure you get this step right from the start as you don’t want to end up with a high employee churn rate.

Refreshments

Something else that you might want to provide for your employees in the office is a coffee or vending machine, maybe even both. If your employees can take regular breaks then they might be looking for a pick me up. Companies that sell or rent commercial coffee machines can save you money as you pay weekly or monthly rather than one big outright cost. You might also be able to get a deal on the inserts for them, but this is dependent on each individual company.
