If you are a busy working mother then you will be glad to know that it is now easier than ever for you to start taking care of yourself. Yes, even if you feel as though you can’t take care of yourself because you only ever have five minutes. Many people feel like this! (Raising my own hand!)
With that being said, there are ways that you can relax using the small blocks of time you have. It may even be possible for you to gain more time too, if you make some changes.
I’m sharing about this topic of easy ways to start taking time for yourself because I’m a bestselling wellness author of books like Instant Calm. I also studied to be a yoga and meditation teacher. Plus I share a range of my self care techniques in my groundbreaking video course: The Anxiety Cure.
3 Easy Ways for Taking Time For Yourself
1. A Family Affair
One of the things you need to do is try and make chores a family affair. While it may not be possible to get your infant engaged in a range of cleaning duties, toddlers are at the age where they want to help. They want to try and demonstrate competence and if you give them the chance to do this then you will find that this goes a long way.
You can encourage them to get laundry and then bring it to the right room for example. Things like this can help you to get the result you want and it can also help you to be more confident in their ability.
While your kids are finishing their meals, sneak in a ton of dishes and then ask your kids to clear their plates. Get them to put their toys in the laundry basket or a toy box and set the challenge of who can do it the fastest.
2. Change your Sleep Pattern
Some kids are able to sense that you have waking patterns and instinctively, they choose to wake up before you do.
If you want to help yourself here or if you just want to take an hour then one thing you can do is take an hour for yourself beforehand. Send your kids to bed then schedule this time for yourself.
Of course, if there are periods where your child is going through night wakings then this is fine, and at times you may begin to wonder if any amount of sleep is going to be far-fetched.
During tough times like this, take what you can, and don’t give up on your self-care. If you only have a few minutes every day then you could try and download some games on your phone. Games like sudoku are great here and you would be surprised at how much they can help you to get the result you want out of the few minutes of time you may have.
3. Find Time to Save on Meals
If you can, one good thing for you to do would be to find time to save on meals. It may be that you try to make cooking faster by getting your kids involved with the prep, or that you simply take the time to plan your meals ahead of time. If you can do this then you will soon find that it becomes easier for you to get the result you want out of your time alone.
