I’m a Peak Performance Coach and love helping people to live at their best, so here are simple ways to build lasting self-esteem.
Around 85% of adults and adolescents globally are estimated to have low self-esteem, which is in turn linked to poor academic and workplace achievement, violent behavior, school dropout rates, and suicide.
When your self-esteem is higher, on the other hand, you feel better about yourself and develop inner resilience that lessens the impact of emotional wounds like failure and rejection.
By taking manageable steps to improve your self-confidence, you can benefit from lasting self-esteem and improved quality of life.
No worries. I’m here to help!
As you might know, I am a bestselling wellness author with about 2 million books sold globally.

Simple Ways To Build Lasting Self-Esteem
1. Develop your strengths
Spend time thinking about your strengths and how you can develop them. Self-esteem is nurtured over time by improving your abilities in areas you consider valuable or worthwhile. So, for example, if you like dancing, sign up for a dance class. Or, if you’re a good cook, host regular dinner parties to show off your culinary achievements for your loved ones. If you have a passion or expertise, create an online course and share your insights and skills with others. As long as you take time to find out what your strengths are and embrace opportunities to develop them, you’ll naturally develop a sense of accomplishment that improves your self-esteem.
2. Improve your appearance
Your appearance plays a key role in your self-esteem and, by improving the way you look, you can boost your confidence in everyday life. Your teeth, in particular, are an important area to focus on. After all, it’s hard to feel good when you’re self-conscious about your smile — whether that’s because you have chipped or stained teeth or an underbite or overbite. Fortunately, oral surgery procedures can fix dental issues and give you a smile you’re proud of. For example, veneers can disguise small cosmetic issues like chips and discoloration. They’re a minimally-invasive, custom-made treatment that looks just like natural teeth.
3. Get regular exercise
Regular exercise has been proven to strengthen self-esteem. In one study, for example, six months of exercise was found to improve participants’ self-esteem and self-concept and minimize psychosomatic complaints. When you exercise, you improve your holistic health by empowering yourself both physically and mentally. Strength training is particularly beneficial; as you show improvements and increase the maximum load you’re able to lift over time, you’ll develop a sense of mastery that’s great for self-esteem. So, aim for around two to three strength training sessions a week, along with around 150 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio.
Self-esteem is vital to thrive in all areas of life. By taking time to develop your strengths, improve your appearance, and get regular exercise, you can nurture lasting self-esteem and keep self-limiting beliefs at bay.
