Read about these four effective and simple ways to improve your self-esteem so you can begin to see yourself in the best, most loving light.
This year is one for the record books. It seems like every day there’s another breaking story on the news cycle. It’s hard to feel good about yourself with all this uncertainty in the air. However, being kind to yourself will change your entire life perspective.
4 Effective & Simple Ways to Improve Your Self-Esteem
Here are four effective and simple ways to improve your self-esteem if you’re struggling to see your worth.
1. Positive Affirmations and Mantras
People rarely give themselves compliments. Yet, being kind to yourself is a vital step in increasing your confidence. Think about yourself and treat yourself the way you think about and treat your best friends.
Consider adding self-affirmations and mantras to your morning routine. Look yourself in the mirror and state three things you love about yourself. The more you repeat these admirations, the easier it’ll be for you to believe them. (I also have a book with lots of instant peptalks, called Instant Happy, which you might love!)
2. Clothes Are Important
Clothing can affect your mood dramatically. If you’re feeling down, try changing up your wardrobe. It’s very easy to get in a rut if you wear sweatpants all day. You can gain a new sense of self-worth by putting a little effort into your appearance. Don’t be afraid to do a little online shopping. Select garments that speak to your style. You’ll feel much more well-rounded when you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing.
3. Reach Out for Support
Everyone should have friends to lift them up when they’re sad. Consider talking to your pals about how you’re feeling. Your loved ones want the best for you. The people in your life will likely try their hardest to get you to see yourself the way they see you. Talking to your people is cathartic. Sometimes all you need is a good old-fashioned pep talk to remind you of your true worth.
4. Cut Out Toxicity
A toxic environment is detrimental to a person’s mental health. Try your best to cut out all the toxicity from your life so you can build your self-esteem.
Social media, for example, can leave people comparing themselves to others. Perhaps delete your Instagram account if your feed is bringing you more negativity than positivity.
Also, there is such a thing as toxic people in your life. If a person consistently makes you feel bad about who you are, it’s okay to set boundaries and even stop speaking to them, if necessary. I offer tools to help you to shut down toxic people – here.
