If you’re struggling to relax and feel focused, here are 4 desk items to reduce stress – put together in a simple guide by a bestselling wellness author.
A major portion of our population is suffering from poor mental health. The fear of uncertainty along with the pain of losing our loved ones during the pandemic has put us all in a disturbed emotional state. It is even worse for the working professional as the work-from-home policy has blurred all the lines between their personal and professional lives. Now, their office hours never end but the need to fulfil family responsibilities like taking care of older or sick family members has increased significantly.
Needless to say that this has skyrocketed the level of stress and anxiety among people. There is a strong need to take timely measures and get the situation under control. While seeking therapy and other forms of medical assistance is always recommended, there might be some self-help ways too. One of such way is equipping your desk with certain items that can help you take your mind off problems and calm you down.

4 Desk Items That Can Help Reduce Stress
Here is the list of 4 desk items that we think can help reduce your stress:
1. Bobbleheads
Bobbleheads are funny-looking dolls with an oversized head, which is attached to the body with a string. This string causes the head to ‘bobble’ every time it is tapped or shaken. While sports bobbleheads are usually considered a collector’s item, you can easily get a personalized bobblehead toy and place it on your desk. It may sound useless at first, but if you think a little harder, having something unique and funny next to your computer isn’t that much of a bad idea.
Every time you feel a little overwhelmed by the workload, you can take a little break and tap a few fingers at his head. This might not get your work done but it will surely bring a smile to your face and lighten up your mood.
2. Stress Ball
Another item that you may add to your desk is a stress ball. It is a squishy ball that can easily fit in your palm and be useful in calming down your stress or anger.
A stress ball can also be used for wrist exercising and relieving tension due to excessive typing or writing.
Some also suggest these balls to patients recovering from a sprain or other wrist injuries.
In addition to this, the squeezing action also aids in maintaining good blood circulation.
3. Coloring Book For Adults
Colours have the ability to instantly calm our senses. Thus, keeping a coloring book in the drawers of your desk might be a good idea. Plus, activities like coloring require us to concentrate and focus which can help divert our minds from stressful thoughts. Another good thing is that there are multiple options for you to choose from like watercolors, crayons, oil paints, and much more
4. Rubik’s Cube
Last on our list is Rubik’s cube. This is the replacement for the colouring books, especially for people who do not enjoy colouring. However, its effects are quite similar. When you direct your focus and energy into solving the cube, your mind lets go of other stressful thoughts. This can help calm you down as well as allow the free flow of ideas. Plus, it is also a great exercise to improve your reflexes and problem-solving skills.
Conclusion: Desk Items to Reduce Stress
Stress and anxiety is a widespread problem. Thus, you should not be ashamed or defensive about such issues. Instead, it’s time to start taking care of yourself and adding these items to your desk is a great step towards the same.
