3 Key Tips To Stay Healthy While At Home

If you are struggling to maintain your health – and just not feeling motivated to take care of yourself – here are my top tips on how to stay healthy while at home.

1. Regular Exercise

Exercising from your home can seem dull and treacherous. But, right now there is not much option and it can save you money while staying healthy and happy. 

You could implement any type of exercise to get in movement and increase blood flow, from chest workouts for growth to stretch pilates. There is something for everyone when it comes to home workouts. The great thing about exercising from the comfort of your own home is that you can do it when you want and change your plan depending on how you are feeling that day.

2. Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is essential for our physical and mental health. Mindful practices include yoga, meditation, reading, being creative, or anything that brings your mind and body peace. Mindfulness can help you in many ways, from helping relieve stress, treating heart disease, lower blood pressure, and reduce chronic pain. Being mindful and creating a sense of peace and calm in your mind and body can also improve sleep, and alleviate medical issues. 

Try to integrate a mindful activity to your daily routine. Add it to your schedule so that you don’t forget. Whether you want to practice meditation first thing in the morning, or read before bed, you should remind yourself to partake in a mindful activity to reap its health benefits.

3. Eat The Rainbow

Eating healthy and nutritious foods can help you in many ways at home, from your body and mind to your skin and mood. Ensuring you attain the essential nutrients will help you stay healthy and combat health issues. A balanced diet consists of protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and fibre. With the right balance, you can combat issues from obesity to heart disease. 

In my bestselling book Life is Long, I explain how if your current diet is not very colorful (full of healthy vegetables, antioxidants, fruits, and superfoods), then swap your poor food choices with colorful nutritious foods.

You should not eliminate your favorite foods altogether. But, you should make more room for healthy foods to maximize your health. Vegetables and fruits are full of essential vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals, that work to combat health complications. A healthy diet benefits your mind as much as it does your body.

To maximize your health through your diet choices, you may want to think about taking supplements and vitamins. For example, while staying at home a lot, we are all lacking in vitamin D due to not being outside as often. Thus, taking vitamin D will ensure you get your recommended daily dose to keep your teeth, bones, and muscles healthy.
