Be happier, healthier, stronger with these 4 easy ways to improve your wellness In 2020.
When you prioritize your physical and mental health, it’s easier to excel in every aspect of your life. Whether it’s in your career, social life or otherwise – putting your wellness first allows you to enhance your personal development and life satisfaction.
If you’re looking for a few easy ways to improve your wellness this year, pop a few of these onto your 2020 to-do-list!
The start of a new year is the perfect time to start a new journal. Perhaps the practice of journaling is entirely new to you? Or maybe you’ve dabbled with journaling in the past?
Either way, one of the best journals you can start to boost your mental health is a “gratitude journal.”
Let’s face it. Often it’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on the negatives instead of the positives.
For example, you can start obsessing over the promotion you missed. Or you can start feeling resentful about the boredom of a familiar routine.
A gratitude journal helps you to focus on writing down things that you are grateful for daily – whether it be your health, family or a talent you have.
When you reflect daily on positive things, after a while you retrain your brain to appreciate all the good people and happy things in your life.
Need some help journaling? I recommend my new line-a-day journal, Listen to Your Heart. It’s filled with gorgeous watercolor artwork and simple thought provoking questions to answer.
Most of us enjoy a coffee or two to get us through the day. Or a few glasses of wine at the end of a hard week.
However, our bodies can really benefit from a good old detox. And so can our minds!
In 2020, challenge yourself to ditch the alcohol and caffeine for a month at least. Next, see how energized and refreshed you feel.
Buy yourself lots of green tea and indulge in at least three cups a day. Green tea is packed with antioxidants and can kill bacteria that is harmful to the body.
Ditch processed foods and give your body a diet of mainly fruits and vegetables – plus fish and whole grain carbs.
The beginning of the year is a great time to schedule those health check-ups that you may not have had in a while.
As we get older, it becomes more important to visit our GP for regular health assessments. Plus, you should also schedule yourself for a dentist appointment. And an eye test while you’re at it.
If you already have glasses, it’s still important to have regular check-ups as your prescription may change over time. (You might even be able to get yourself some new designer glasses!)
We all know that a great exercise regime is crucial to help us to stay both physically and mentally healthy.
Exercise is beneficial for everything from improving your mood to cardiovascular health and getting a good night’s sleep.
Admittedly, it’s easy to get bored of the same old regime. So why not challenge yourself to take up a brand new form of exercise?
Perhaps there’s a style of dance you’ve always had your eye on. Or maybe there’s a team sport. Or simply a new class at the gym? Whether it’s kicking boxing, volleyball or Pilates – when you give yourself a new challenge, your exercise regime becomes all the more motivating!
