quotes about inner strength

I call it “The Vortex” –  a time when you’re tested in seemingly unsurmountable ways – and you find yourself being pulled downwards. Everyone has at least one vortex in their lifetime. I had my own series of life-altering events – including a sexual assault — which tested my ability to cope –  and encouraged me to search deep within for inner strength – as well as search in lots of psychology books – for tools to bounce back!  As a result, I came up with a number of techniques which helped me to recover from my trauma and emerge as a stronger person. I share many of these techniques in The Bounce Back Book. My mission is to help as many people as I can to survive – and even thrive –  after all kinds of losses and setbacks.

Here’s a 3 quick tools from my book….

  • Shrink Negativity into “Nuggetivity”: Limit the amount of time you allow yourself to think negative thoughts to 3-minute nuggets, three times per day.
  • Write a Complaint Letter to Yourself: Then Answer it: Scribble out every fleeting thought or worry. Ask for comfort – and then give it to yourself.
  • Find Your “Bounceable” People: Make a list of 10 people who 100% understand you and support you – then spend time with this “Support Hive.” Studies show that people who bounce back the best from trauma, have a tribe of people around them who cheer them on – helping them to believe in their inner strength.
