Why You Can’t Rush A Wellness Journey

Why You Can't Rush A Wellness JourneyRushing a wellness journey is a very common rookie error. You want to make progress on your body, and you want to make as much progress as you can as quickly as possible. After all, you might be trying to lose a few pounds before fitting into a wedding outfit, or you’re preparing for a marathon that you’re determined to prove you can actually complete.

So you try to get yourself into the habit of working out, eating well, and getting to bed on time every night when oh no! There goes your hamstring and now you’re limping around the house, or a million different cravings suddenly come up and they’re all you can think about.

Because you can’t rush a wellness journey. You need to take your time. Here’s why.

You Won’t Be Able to Commit

When you rush, you get overwhelmed. And when you get overwhelmed, you can’t make the habits you’re trying to build actually take hold.

You’ll just commit for a week or a month or so, and then find they’re slowly phasing out of your schedule entirely. You might not even notice it as it happens.

Why? Because rushing your wellness means making a lot of changes at once. And this is impossible to sustain in the long term, as you need to give yourself time to get used to the changes you want to make.

You’ll Lose Motivation

Following on from giving yourself a bit of a commitment issue, you’re also going to lose all motivation for your wellness when you’re rushing too.

After all, you’re rushing because you want to get fitter and stronger now

But when that doesn’t happen, and your efforts slowly peter off because you can’t stick to them, you’re going to lose any motivation to keep going.

Things aren’t working, you’re not noticing yourself getting any fitter or leaner, and you’re now dealing with all kinds of feelings that end up weighing very heavily on you. Shame and guilt, to name just a couple.

And neither of these feelings tend to be all that motivating, especially when they’re focused on an internal struggle.

You Could Hurt Yourself

This is one of the biggest problems with trying to rush your wellness journey. You’re going to hurt yourself.

You’re pushing yourself too hard. You’re doing exercises you’re not quite ready for, or haven’t learnt the right form for. You’re starving yourself in an attempt to change your diet.

These are very likely to happen, and none of them make trying to feel fit and well any easier.

You’re likely to get injured

Really, it’s going to happen whether you want it to or not. You’re human, after all.

But when you’re trying to rush yourself, you’re far more likely to deal with serious cases of overuse, strain, and tearing.

Steroids can help, but be careful

If you’re thinking about using steroids, it’s up to you to decide whether or not they’ll help you achieve your goals. But if you do decide you want to buy steroids online for daily use, you always need to be careful.

First off, make sure you buy them from a reputable seller known for providing high quality medications and customer support. If you have questions about using their products, they should be able to answer them!

Secondly, make sure you’ve got the right type of steroid for your goals. They’re not all made to have the same effect on the body, so you need to shop around very carefully here.

And finally, of course, make sure you’re aware of the side effects you may experience. You need to very carefully weigh up whether or not it’s worth it to go through them.

How to Stick to Your Wellness Journey

Now you know the whys, here’s the hows!

If you want to stick to your wellness journey, there’s a few things you need to filter into your mindset. And they may take some getting used to, depending on how you were originally approaching your wellness journey. Best get started on them ASAP!

So without further ado, when you want to create wellness habits that actually stick, here’s what you actually need to do:

Take it bit by bit!

It’s that simple – one step at a time!

Make it communal

Go to a class. Attend a fitness evening. Ask a friend to go on a jog or down to the pool with you.

Make it communal and get yourself involved with the social side of wellness. You’ll have more time to spend with loved ones, and you’ll also have more opportunities to make new friends.

And when you have people expecting you to show up, you’re far more likely to get into the habit of it.

Have fun

Nothing in life feels good to do when you’re not finding some kind of fun in it. And if you’re choosing to go on a wellness journey, you should work as much fun into the process as possible.

Give yourself something to look forward to, instead of dreading hitting the gym or working with a PT you’re not really sure about.

Do a ‘silly’ workout at home to your favorite show tunes, or play a game where the forfeits are push ups and burpees. Make it fun and you’ll keep at it.

Start Your Wellness Journey Right

When you set yourself off on a wellness journey, you want to push off without hurting yourself.

You don’t want to set your pace wrong and tire out before you hit the first marker. You don’t want to push off in a way that rolls your ankle or strains your calf muscles. You certainly don’t want to forget to breathe properly and start choking half way round the track!

But all of these mistakes occur when you’re rushing. And when you rush, you make little to no progress at all. You just get hurt, bored, and completely de-motivated. Take it slowly and bit by bit for the best results.
