With the right approach, you can stay healthy even if you’re desk worker sitting at your desk all the time.

1. Look After Your Derriere

When you work at a desk, you spend a lot of time sitting on your backside. It might not be your first thought when you’re trying to find ways to be a healthier desk worker, but it’s not something you want to ignore. Sitting all day can affect your gluteal muscles, and you could find it irritates existing problems such as hemorrhoids. If you’re having problems, one of the best things you can do is find the right treatment to fix hemorrhoids. It’s also important to have a comfortable chair and to stand up regularly to increase blood flow, which is good for healing.

2. Maintain Good Posture

Poor posture is a big issue for people who work at desks. It’s easy to find yourself slouching or hunched over when you spend all day typing, writing, drawing, or staring at a screen. But if you can maintain good posture, you can prevent problems with your back or other joints. First of all, you need to have a supportive chair. Once you have an ergonomic chair and desk setup, you also need to know how to sit properly. It’s important to have your feet flat on the floor and your wrists supported. Ensure your chair is supporting you to sit up straight.

3. Stand Up and Stretch

The right desk posture is helpful, but it won’t fix everything. You should also get up and stretch regularly. This increases blood flow and allows you to keep your joints moving. Simply standing up by your desk and doing some stretches for a couple of minutes can help, but it’s even better if you’re able to go for a walk or engage in a longer stretching session. Some workplaces might offer yoga or hot desking or other activities that you can engage with on your lunch break.

4. Make Use of Your Time Off

When you spend the majority of your work day sitting down, you should try to make the most of the time you have outside of work. While it might be tempting to fall straight onto the couch when you get home, you can do yourself and your health a favor by trying to be more active. Whether it’s going to the gym, working out at home or just choosing not to sit down too much, you can help undo any damage that might be done at work.

Working at a desk can cause problems for your health, but you also have options for managing things so you can be healthier.
