Some Small Things To Make You Feel Better About Yourself

If you’re feeling sad or stressed or insecure, here are some small things to make you feel better about yourself – plus more positive and confident.

From time to time, you might find yourself feeling as though you are not fully happy with yourself.

If you feel this way a lot and you want to try and do something about it, there are a huge number of simple things you can do to feel better about yourself.

As you might know, I’m a bestselling author, award winning designer and happiness researcher. I wrote a book called Happy Habits.

In my research, I learned a lot about how to make sure you develop positive habits which lead to a happier life – by embracing specific principles of “habit formation.”

In this article I will be sharing some small habits which you can easily do to feel better about yourself and improve your mood.

4 Small Things To Make You Feel Better About Yourself

Let’s take a look below at some of the small steps to consider taking in order to feel more positive and confident.

1. Believe In Your Resources

small things feel better about yourselfWhoever you are, you have a whole wealth of inner resources that you are able to call upon at any time. You just need to tap into your fullest potential. When you dig deeper, you rise higher.

You are stronger than you realize, if you just push a little harder.

Plus you’re capable of learning and growing in exciting ways, if you move through fear and stress – and focus on the rewards waiting on the other side of your comfort zone.

You also have resources all around you – in the form of friends, family and work connections. Consider the people who you trust – and know that they can support you in various ways – if you ask them for help.

Know this now:

When you feel like you’re stuck in a situation –  forever and ever – you feel sad and stressed.

So, just take a moment to recognize that those resources truly are there for you. You’ll start to feel more positive and better about yourself. You will believe in your ability to create the life improvements you want.

2. Pay Attention To Your Habits

The simple act of paying a little more attention to your habits is one of the most important and powerful things you can do.

When you start to live more intentionally, you ensure that you are choosing habits which reward you with a healthier sense of self.

So, be mindful of your habits.

Make lists. Write down the habits you want to focus on more – and list the habits you want to break. Read them regularly. Empower yourself to choose more wisely.

3. Keep A Clean Wardrobe

But not because you need to dress to look a certain way for others – or to follow trends.

Basically, dressing nicely is about self-respect.

And so you want to wear good quality, clean clothes which you feel comfortable and happy wearing.

Make sure your clothes aren’t stained, torn or wrinkled. This might mean getting replacement parts for your washing machine so your clothes can be in a better condition – or storing them more carefully.

Taking better care of your wardrobe is a small thing that can really help you to feel good about yourself.

4. Don’t Compare Yourself To Others

don't compare small thing feel better about yourself The main reason that we tend to feel not so good about ourselves is because we are constantly comparing ourselves to other people.

Psychologists believe this is because we are distinctly social animals.

As a result, it’s hugely important for us to be part of the pack.

But if you really want to develop true confidence, you need to remember that you shouldn’t compare yourself to others.

Simply compete with yourself – to try to become wiser, stronger, happier.

Focus on becoming the best you that you can be.

When you avoiding comparison and competition, you will feel so much better about yourself in no time at all.
