A Random Act Of Umbrella Kindness - Karen Salmansohn

A Random Act Of Umbrella Kindness

So a few months ago I was working in a café near my son’s daycare.

When I left the café to pick up my son, it was raining cats and dogs.

Or rather, panthers and pitbulls.

I’m talking some powerful, juicy raindrops here!

Happily I had my son’s hooded raincoat in his daycare locker – and a hood of my own on my jacket. But – I had zippo umbrella.

When I picked him up, I immediately hooded us both up – then headed home as quickly as I could.

I had barely strollered us a few feet down the sidewalk, when suddenly a guy (who looked about 20-ish) handed me his umbrella.

“Take this,” he said as he placed his open umbrella in my hand.

I barely got the words “What? Huh? Thank you!” out of my mouth.

Next thing I knew, ee was off – running down the sidewalk – umbrella-free – panthers and pitbulls falling heavily upon him.

Karen Salmansohn Umbrella Kindness
I gotta say – I’ve never experienced “a random act of umbrella kindness” before.

It was soooo awesome that I’ve decided I’m going to pay this umbrella forward.
Next time it rains, I’m gonna carry more than one umbrella with me. I will pass on the spare umbrella to someone I see without one – so I can pass on a little sunshine on a rainy day!
