NOTE: This is a guest blog by the inspiring Joy Ty I’ve been on a journey, a swerving journey, which includes many difficult years in the past – from the beginning of my hearing-impaired life at the age of 10, and includes being a slow learner, experiencing unresolved, distorted and mumbled sounds from hearing aids for many years, unable to speak until the age of 10 and difficulty in comprehending words , the sudden death of my father at age 17, the verbal abuse from some of my family members, relatives, classmates, teachers, and others.
In short, I experienced an unhappy childhood.
One day, I grew tired feeling dependent on others, feeling a constant need to please. I was 19 years old.
I said to myself – made it clear to myself in an inner knowing – that I truly wanted to understand words.
I didn’t care if I didn’t hear them. I didn’t care too if my hearing aids didn’t work for me.
All I wanted was to learn the English language and how to use words to communicate with people in order to fight the right, to tell the truth, and to stand my feet on the ground!
That’s all I wanted and nothing else.
I prayed to God to help me to achieve my impossible dream.
Suddenly, my inner voice spoke to me – in typewritten words – inside my mind: “YOU CAN DO IT! IF YOU KEEP THE FAITH YOU’LL MAKE IT!”
For me, at that time, those words were aliens to me.
I felt like it came from other planets.
However, I followed my intuition – whole heartedly.
At the age of 24, I started hiring different English teachers, practicing trials and errors in writing, forcing myself to read at least 70 books, and many more.
I have achieved my dream today at the age of 28.5.
But I still keep improving writing everyday through self-studying.
Now, I fully understand that word “faith.”
It is the most important powerful word above all other words that I have come to learn and master.
This single word “faith” is a full and bursting package of a word – overflowing with “believe in yourself” merged with “trust the power within” mixed with “love all of your imperfections.”
I recently read Karen Salmansohn’s book INSTANT HAPPY – and saw a page with the word YOU GOTTTA FAITH IT TILL YOU MAKE IT.
Yes, yes, yes! I loved these words.
Whatever it is you want for your life – whatever your seemingly impossible dream might be – GO, GO, GO!!! My dear, have faith and keep going!
